Union minister for textiles, Piyush Goyal called upon the textile industry to self-regulate towards branding and certifying Indian cotton 'Kasturi'.
The minister assured the cotton industry that the government will support the initiative with funds matching the industry contribution. According to Goyal, supply of good quality seeds was important to increase India's cotton productivity. Speaking in Delhi, Goyal said that the industry needed to do some concrete action from related ministries on a war footing.
