With five games in the books, the holes in the Pittsburgh Steelers roster are fairly clear. Pittsburgh had a strong 2023 NFL draft, despite the fact that the team doesn’t feel the need to play them. So as we look ahead to 2024, the needs of this team are fairly clear not taking into consideration upcoming free-agent additions.
Here are our updated Steelers NFL draft needs.
1 - Cornerback
Patrick Peterson and Levi Wallace could both be gone and the Steelers must add a player to pair up with Joey Porter Jr.
2 - Interior offensive line
This group has seriously underperformed, especially center. The center class isn’t great so far so Pittsburgh might have to look to free agency.
3 - Safety
Neither Damontae Kazee nor Keanu Neal have been good this season and so adding a big-hitting strong safety early makes lots of sense.
4 - Nose tackle
We will continue to bag the drum for the Steelers to finally draft the replacement for Casey Hampton this team has been missing.
5 - Inside linebacker
We like what we are seeing from the trio of Elandon Roberts, Cole Holcomb and Kwon Alexander but none of them are the young, athletic player this defense needs.
6 - Wide receiver
It’s unlikely Allen Robinson is retained so Pittsburgh needs to find a true slot receiver to be that yard after catch guy on the inside.
7 - Quarterback
Not to replace Kenny Pickett but the Steelers need to draft a young, athletic developmental guy to replace Mason Rudolph.
