The Pittsburgh Pirates have been the biggest surprise of the 2023 MLB season, as they’re currently in first place in the NL Central with a 34-30 record.
One of the biggest reasons for their success has been their star pitcher, Mitch Keller. The right-hander picked up his eighth win of the season on Sunday after giving up just two hits in seven innings of work at home against the New York Mets.
Keller has some really filthy stuff, which Mets center fielder Brandon Nimmo found out about firsthand on Sunday.
Check out this sweeper that Keller threw to strike out Nimmo in the third inning:
Mitch Keller, RIDICULOUS 83mph Sweeper. 😳

Holy movement.
MLB fans were in awe:
Absolute frisbee. Kyle Crick level slider with the ability to command it. #LetsGoBucs https://t.co/LQV2gdGn30

The movement is crazy. Good luck trying to hit a pitch like this. https://t.co/2AubCtEexh

You know it’s a nasty pitch when you measure the break in feet. https://t.co/hJU4jvW6pd

Ball needs to at least turn the blinker on if it’s gonna make that left-hand turn so aggressively. https://t.co/2HX3ujPOfA
