After just one day of competition for the men, and no action yet for the women, the World Surf League's season opening Championship Tour event in Hawaii has been placed on hold for another 24 hours.
Following the latest inspection on Saturday local time (Sunday AEDT), WSL officials said conditions at the Pipe Pro at Oahu continue to be problematic, with onshore winds and the swell coming in the wrong direction for the Pipeline and Backdoor breaks.
There are hopes for improved conditions over the coming days, with promising forecasts for the beginning of next week.
The men - including six Australians led by defending champion Jack Robinson - had two rounds of competition on Wednesday local time, but the women are yet to get in the water.
When they do, Australia's world No.3 Tyler Wright will go in the first heat, taking on local Bettylou Sakura Johnson and Brazil's Luana Silva.
Sally Fitzgibbons faces a tough first-up match-up against defending champion Hawaii's Carissa Moore and Costa Rica's Brisa Hennessy, while other Australians in action include India Robinson, Isabella Nichols and world No.5 Molly Picklum.
Queensland's world No.2 Ethan Ewing will take on surf legend Kelly Slater in the men's round-of-32 action, while Robinson faces Morocco's Ramzi Boukhiam.
Other Australian men still in contention are Liam O'Brien, Ryan Callinan, Jacob Willcox and Callum Robson.
