Pink-ball Tests: How India, Australia and other teams have fared so far

The Indian team's upcoming pink-ball Test against Australia in Adelaide will be the 23rd Test to be played under the flood lights, with the Aussies coming out as the most successful team.

In comparison to Australia playing 12 day-night Tests, India have played just four and their only loss came in the one that they played against the Aussies in Adelaide on their last tour Down Under. The match saw India folding up for 36 all out in their second innings, which remains their lowest total in Test history.

However, India will be high on confidence heading to Adelaide this time, having started the five-match Border Gavaskar Trophy series with a resounding 295-run victory in Perth to go 1-0 ahead. But the pink-ball remains a tough proposition, more so in bouncy Australian conditions that make the challenge stiffer.

Here's a break-up of how teams have fared in day-night Tests:

Trivia related to day-night Tests:

1. All 22 pink-ball Tests have produced results.

2. Only five of the 22 Tests went to the fifth day.

3. Two of the 22 Tests finished on the second day itself.

4. Australia is the only team to play 10 or more pink-ball Tests.

India have received an added boost heading into their fifth day-night Test, as the team's regular skipper, Rohit Sharma, is back with the squad following a paternity leave.

Rohit, who also played the warm-up fixture against Australian Prime Minister's XI, and his wife Ritika recently welcomed a baby boy to the family.
