An investigation is underway following a devastating air disaster in South America that claimed the lives of all 62 people onboard. The pilot of the aircraft has been identified as Capt. Danilo Santos Romano, a seasoned aviator with over 10 years of experience. Romano, certified by both the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the U.S., was at the controls of the ATR 72 twin-engine turboprop when it crashed into a residential area in Vinhedo, Brazil.
The victims, including four individuals with dual citizenship, are being moved to São Paulo's police morgue for identification. Among the victims were three Venezuelans and one Portuguese woman, tragically losing their lives in the fiery crash. The heartbreaking footage of the incident shows the plane spiraling downward before impact, leaving behind a scene of destruction in the Vinhedo neighborhood.
Authorities are diligently working to identify the victims using various methods, including seat assignments, physical characteristics, documents, and personal belongings recovered from the crash site. The recovery of the plane's black box early on Saturday morning marks a crucial step in the investigation process.
As the investigation unfolds, there is no definitive explanation for the cause of the accident. Brazil's aviation agency has pledged to conduct a thorough inquiry into the tragic event to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
