Piers Morgan to take a break from his show as viewers dwindle

Piers Morgan is set to take a lengthy break from TalkTV after his new show failed to win over the viewers. The Daily Star said that a report from May 18 revealed that Piers Morgan: Uncensored pulled in only 24,000 viewers during a primetime evening slot.

And it is the show’s dwindling audience that has resulted in the journalist’s decision to take a backseat from Uncensored. Some of Piers’s followers took to Twitter to question who would take his place on the self-titled show.

One wrote: “I understand Piers Morgan is taking a six-week break from his show. No news as to who will stand in for him with his 32,000 viewers.”

Another tweeted: “Piers Morgan can’t even beat ratings that most bedroom YouTubers get. Pretty safe to say [TalkTV] is now the new Blockbuster and Kodak. The end is near."

A critic called the show “utter drivel” and said that he only featured “z-list celebrities”, with the “evening schedule of 7pm” needing a “total overhaul”.

One even made a dig about Andrew Neil, who left GB News, and said that he took a break “and never came back”, while another pointed out that the show hasn’t been on the air for longer than Piers’s planned break.

The Guardian released a damning report which noted that The News Desk, which is hosted by Tom Newton Dunn and broadcast on TalkTV, “did not register a single viewer” for half of the programme’s duration on May 3. It added that “although it does not rule out the possibility that someone was watching somewhere in the UK”, it means that the viewership was “so small that it was not picked up” by ratings agency Broadcasters Audience Research Board.
