Piers Morgan takes swipe at Bristol's Alex Beresford ahead of ITV return

Controversial presenter Piers Morgan made a subtle swipe at Bristol's Alex Beresford ahead of his ITV return.

The outspoken star quit Good Morning Britain last year after he stormed off when he and weather presenter Alex clashed as they talked about Meghan Markle's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Piers is heading back to ITV on Thursday (21 April) to appear on Lorraine – and ahead of his show he took to Twitter appearing to take another swipe at Alex, reports Daily Star.

"Anyone know who's doing the weather on ITV tomorrow morning?" Piers tweeted.

Fans were quick to reply to the post, with @KeithSi27584957 writing: "Part of me hopes that it is Alex. I have just put two of the Noland sisters on a train they are on GMTV tomorrow morning."

While @Donny_Fan said: "OK, I thought nothing would make me laugh today but that did! Thanks." And @pflaxman said: "Your mate got promoted."

Piers also told fans that he was going on Lorraine and that it should be "fun" – and joked about making a surprise visit to his old TV home. He tweeted: "BREAKING: I'll be returning to ITV tomorrow for first time since the Markle Debacle… live & definitely uncensored on @lorraine with the fabulous @reallorraine - should be fun…"

"May even storm back onto @GMB while I wait, & get those ratings back up," he quipped in another sly dig at the morning programme."

The broadcaster is expected to chat to Lorraine about his eagerly anticipated new programme, which is about to launch on TalkTV.

The 57-year-old – who has aired his views on "woke" culture plenty of times – has suggested that he wants his programme to cancel "cancel culture".

The new global show will go on air with the UK launch of TalkTV on linear TV platforms Sky, Virgin Media, Freeview and Freesat. Uncensored will also air on Fox Nation in the US and Sky News in Australia.

The show is described as a “fearless forum for lively, intelligent debate and agenda-setting interviews, celebrating free speech and the right for people to share their views”. Morgan has also exacted the "ultimate revenge" on his former bosses at ITV by poaching the six key production staff from the channel to come over to lead his primetime show.
