With Piers back in the spotlight thanks to his TalkTV show, fans might be left wanting to know more about his own life.
Here are a few of the highlights about Piers Morgan, his family life, his new show, and his impressive property portfolio.
Who is Piers Morgan?
Piers Morgan is a British journalist, broadcaster and television presenter.
He was born in Surrey, England, on 30 March 1965 and made headlines in 1994 when he became editor of the now defunct News of the World Sunday newspaper – becoming the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.
He was editor of the Daily Mirror from 1995 until 2004 and in the years since has built an impressive on-screen career as a TV judge on shows like Britain’s Got Talent and as a host on news programs including Good Morning Britain.
Who is Piers’s wife?
Piers is married to journalist, novelist, and critic Celia Walden who, born in 1975, is 10-years his junior.
The couple tied-the-knot in 2010 after meeting in 2005 when Piers interviewed Celia for GQ magazine.
Reflecting on their first meeting last year, Piers recalled: “[Then-GQ editor Dylan Jones] emailed me back in 2005 to ask if I would interview a gossip columnist from the Daily Telegraph. ‘Why would I want to do that?’ I replied, dismissively.
"You may want to see the eight-page Agent Provocateur photo-shoot she’s done for us before declining,’ he persisted… He sent over the pictures, and after viewing them, I immediately cleared my schedule for a series of increasingly long ‘interviews’ with the gossip columnist. Her name was Celia Walden – and I married her five years later.”
Has Piers been married before?
Piers was previously married to Marion Shalloe, a hospital ward sister – with the pair tying-the-knot back in 1991.
However, the marriage unravelled several years later with the pair splitting in 2004 and finalising their divorce in 2008.
He told the Daily Mail in 2009: "I've only recently got divorced. There has to be a decent period before these things are done. The divorce was a pretty horrendous experience
"The day Marion and I got divorced, I said, 'You know what? We can both go away feeling awful about this, but let's never mention it again'."
How many children does Piers Morgan have?
Piers has four children – sharing three sons with his first wife, Marion, and a daughter with his second and current wife Celia.
His eldest son, Spencer – who seems to be following in his father’s fire-brand social-commentary footsteps – was born in 1993, second son, Stanley, was born in 1997 and third son, Albert, was born in 2002.
While his daughter, Elise, arrived in 2010.
How many homes does Piers Morgan have?
With headlines suggesting that Piers has been paid £50 million for his new role at TalkTV and The Sun – and a previously reported net worth of £14.4 million – it’s no surprise Piers has a number of luxury houses to relax in.
In the UK he has a £4 million Grade II listed townhouse in Kensington, West London, where he lives with his wife, Celia, and their daughter Elise, and the star has a second, family home in Newick, East Sussex, which is said to be worth £1.4 million.
