Piers Morgan's 17 fiercest celeb bust-ups - bitter book row to vicious Twitter spat

Piers Morgan loves a celebrity row - be it while he's interviewing them or, more often than likely, in a nasty Twitter spat.

More recently, the former GMB presenter fell out once again with his former best pal Donald Trump in an interview that appears to be a far cry from his chummy chat with the former president back in 2018 on board Air Force One.

Trump is seen storming off in the promo clip - something ex-president is now denying happened - and branding Piers a "fool".

Since the clip was released, Trump has shared several statements condemning the interview - even going so far as to release audio in order to prove he didn't storm off and accused him of "deceptive editing".

As Trump has been banned from Twitter, Piers couldn't engage in a tweeting war with him - but he did end up rowing another staunch Republican who had been due to appear on his show...

Caitlyn Jenner

One of many celeb fallouts that flourished through the Twittersphere, Caitlyn was not best pleased after seeing Piers' promo clip for his interview with Trump.

She declared on Twitter: "'This is a pathetic attempt to use President Trump as a way to revive the career of a failed television host,' @TayFromCA …couldn’t agree more. @piersmorgan I have just had my management cancel my appearance with you for this Wednesday because of your repulsive misconduct today."

Piers hit back: "Hi Caitlyn, I thought you hated cancel culture? I did a 75-minute interview with President Trump, why don’t you actually watch it before deciding how I behaved?"

Donald Trump's son went on to share an article which reportedly contained the audio from the interview.

Caitlyn fumed in response: "He is a pathetic. Expose him! Never will do his show again! Ever! @piersmorgan."

After someone accused her of not being invited onto Piers' new show - while also having a jab at her not appearing on The Kardashians - she retorted: "I was not only invited - I was paid to be on his show in the past (multiple times) and was being paid to be on it again, this Wednesday, for 10 minutes…you have no idea what you are talking about @piersmorgan has shown how unprofessional he is today as @TayFromCA pointed out."

Meghan Markle

Piers' most famous celebrity feud has to be with Meghan which - once upon a time - wasn't rooted in vitriol.

The pair even followed one another on Twitter back in 2015 and became friendly after Piers became interested in her role on the hit TV drama Suits.

He said: "She even started sending me early preview episodes of her show so we could debate juicy storylines yet to air – which we did, at length."

However, Meghan famously later ghosted Piers - leading to their spectacular fallout.

Piers later claimed that he put her in the taxi that led her to the party where she met Prince Harry, but never heard from her again after that, the party where she met Prince Harry.

He said: "She met Prince Harry at the dinner that night, went on a solo date with him the next night, and I never heard from her again. Not a word. I’d been ghosted."

As rumours surfaced of Meghan's relationship with the rest of the royals breaking down, Piers eventually became critical of his former dinner guest.

He wrote in 2018: " Meghan Markle is a ruthless social climbing actress who has landed the role of her life and is determined to milk it for all she can - and that’s why the Palace is beginning to turn on her."

Since then, Piers has been a scathing critic of Meghan and even quit his job on GMB after refusing to apologise for comments he made about her.

Meghan had issued a complaint to Ofcom and ITV about Piers' remarks - which he believes led bosses to give him the ultimatum.

Jameela Jamil

Piers and Jameela have had a long history of social media spats, with the former GMB host's vehement criticism of gender identity sparking heated debates with the actress and presenter.

But it all turned very ugly in 2020 when Jameela made a comment referencing their clash as she spoke about being harassed in the wake of Love Island host Caroline Flack's death.

However, a week later, Piers published a string of private messages he received from Caroline Flack about her public feud with Jameela.

She went on to brand Piers a "bullying parasite" over the release of the private DMs.

A year prior, Piers looped in the police to his Twitter feud after Jameela called him "England's biggest s*** stain" and a "giant pile of w**k".

He wrote: "This thing'. Wow. On every level that is a shameful mis-gendering. Cc @metpoliceuk".

However, Piers later insisted he wasn't making a serious complaint to the police, tweeting: "Relax.. It was just a little woke joke..."

JK Rowling

While Piers' relationship with JK Rowling appears to have tempered in recent years following her controversial comments regarding trans issues, the pair became embroiled in a bitter war of words back in 2017.

Piers had found himself trending on Twitter after comedian Jim Jefferies told him to "f**k off" during Real Time With Bill Maher - which the Harry Potter author shared a clip of online.

After spotting that she had done so, Piers fired off: "This is why I've never read a single word of Harry Potter."

But she snapped back: "Because you had a premonition that one day the author would roar with laughter at seeing you called out for your bulls*** on live TV?"

"Everything I said was factual. If you think screaming 'F**K OFF!!!' at me changes that, then you're mistaken," he replied.

"Would you like a couple of hours to mock up some pictures of refugees carrying explosives to substantiate your position?" she quipped.

"The superior, dismissive arrogance of rabid Remain/Clinton supporters like @jk_rowling is, of course, precisely why both campaigns lost," he then posted.

In response, she shot back: "The fact-free, amoral, bigotry-apologism of celebrity toady Piers Morgan is, of course, why it's so delicious to see him told to f**k off."

Three years later, the animosity between the two was still clearly going strong after he accused her of "playing the victim" after she became embroiled in a huge transphobia storm online.

However, he has since changed his tune - going on to defend JK Rowling recently by claiming that there is a "toxic debate" around women's rights and that the author has been treated "despicably" for sharing her views in recent years...

Jeremy Clarkson

For 10 long years, the pair were sworn enemies - peaking with Jeremy punching Piers in the head at the 2004 British Press Awards.

A year earlier, the ex Top Gear host had tipped a glass of water in Piers' lap on the final flight of Concorde in 2003 amid a row over pictures the latter had published.

"He was seated in the row behind me, droning on about his brilliance, so as we began our descent into London, and an inevitable encounter with the waiting bank of television cameras, I turned round and emptied a glass of water into his crotch," Jeremy told The Sunday Times in 2014.

“'Look,' I said to journalists as we walked down the aircraft steps, 'the idiot’s wet himself.'"

It all turned up a gear when Jeremy punched Piers three times in the head at the awards do.

Opening up about how it had all escalated, Jeremy had called former newspaper editor Piers a "ghastly weasel" and that he had taken issue with a number of "unpleasant stories" that had been published.

Piers had apparently suggested that it "was all a huge laugh. A joke. No harm done".

Jeremy said: "My wife thought otherwise. And at the British Press awards gave him one of her hard stares from across the room. 'Why’s your f***ing wife looking at me like that?' he thundered. So I punched him. And then I punched him again."

Piers, who hadn't retaliated and had walked away with just a scar on his head caused by the ring that Jeremy had been wearing, told the Guardian at the time: "I think it is fair to say he was a little inebriated. He did then try to apologise but sadly I wasn't massively enamoured by this gesture, given the mounting inflammation to various parts of my skull - although I've frankly taken worse batterings from my three-year-old son."

The pair have since let bygones be bygones and came face-to-face again on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? in 2020.

Piers admitted he was wracked with nerves after agreeing to appear on Millionaire opposite host Jeremy and they endured a tense reunion in the green room before heading on set.

In his column for the Mail on Sunday, Morgan wrote: "He slouched into the green room with a massive smirk on his face. ‘Morgan, I can’t believe you agreed to do this!' 'Nor can I,' I grimaced.

"Well don’t worry,’ he grinned with the undisguised glee of a sadistic public executioner who gets a kick out of guillotining people, 'now you’ve been dumb enough to say yes, I fully intend giving the British public exactly what it wants...'

"Clarkson then cackled like Jack Nicholson in The Shining, which suggested he imagined – probably correctly – that the British public would want nothing less than me suffering a catastrophic, career-ending humiliation."

Emily Ratajkowski

Piers took aim at Blurred Lines star Emily in 2020 by calling her out over the way she was holding her baby in a picture posted on Instagram.

However, it wasn't the first time the pair had clashed.

Back in 2018, Piers took aim at Emily over a video she filmed for LOVE magazine which showed her rolling around in her underwear covered in spaghetti.

During a turn on GMB, he said: "I don't know quite what she is. She's a global bimbo.

Piers co-host Susanna Reid then chimed in, saying: "Piers has got a personal vendetta against her. She likes to think taking her clothes off is promoting feminism."

Piers then went on: "She's posted something on Instagram about how what we are watching now is unbelievably empowering to feminists.

"For goodness sake - get some clothes on and get yourself a proper job."

He then added on Twitter: "This is Emily Ratajkowski ‘promoting feminism’. Somewhere, Emmeline Pankhurst just vomited."

It came to Emily's attention and she hit back, tweeting: "Lol, never said my love video was a feminist statement.

"But now it's worth saying that telling women what to do with their bodies and sexuality is actually just classic sexism.

“I can have opinions about feminism and also do sexy photo shoots - okay. Thanks."

Little Mix

Piers took aim at girl group Little Mix back in 2018 when he accused them of using sex to sell records.

The band, then made up of Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jesy Nelson, and Jade Thirwall, had just released a promo image for their track Strip which appeared to set him off.

In the shot, the women were seen naked with insults including "slutty", "talentless" and "ugly" scrawled on their bare skin.

Piers laid into the pop group on Good Morning Britain, ranting: "What is empowering about this?

"Get your kit off, airbrush yourself to within an inch of your lives… it's nonsense.

"It's just stripping off to sell records. It's actually using sex and sexuality to sell records. That's it. There’s nothing else to this."

Piers added: "Here’s a good idea, you really want to empower yourselves? Get naked and put the word slut all over your body!

Piers lashed out at Little Mix over their empowering album art (PA)

"I get insults every single day, I don’t take my clothes off and adorn my body in them."

It didn't take long for the pop stars to hit back at him, addressing his comments in an interview on BBC Radio 1.

Jesy Nelson insisted she wasn't surprised by his comments, saying: "Of course not[I'm not surprised], he's a silly t**t."

She apologised for her use of bad language, and her bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock jumped in, adding, "The word she was looking for was 'idiot'."

Afterwards, Piers attempted to convinced the band to come on his show to explain themselves, tweeting: "If you're brave enough @LittleMix - come on @GMB tomorrow & say when you've just been saying about me on Radio One to my face.

"Then we can debate your cynical exploitation of nudity to sell records..."

Lady Gaga

Believe it or not, Pop icon Lady Gaga is one of the few celebs that Piers Morgan has actually apologised to after remarks he made about her.

In 2020, admitted he was wrong to take aim at Lady Gaga when she announced she was working to help raise awareness and funds to fight the global coronavirus pandemic.

Following the airing of the One World: Together At Home concert in the UK on Sunday, Piers ate humble pie and tweeted Gaga to congratulate her on curating a standout night of entertainment in the name of a good cause.

“I owe you an apology @ladygaga,” the TV star wrote on Twitter on Sunday night.

“This was a great initiative that raised a fortune, entertained people, & will help save lives,” Piers continued.

“It was also a perfect illustration of a major star using their profile properly in this crisis. Congrats & sorry for originally questioning it,” he wrote.

“Why? Has she found a cure? Otherwise, we don’t need a bloody singer there,” he angrily asked when news of her project was first announced.

He also admitted in 2018 during an interview with the Radio Times that he regretted a harsh tweet he aimed at Lady Gaga about her PTSD.

"I remember Lady Gaga saying she had PTSD and stuff and I launched into her and sort of inferred that no one outside the military should really be claiming to get PTSD," Piers said.

“I don't think I should have been quite so dismissive of everybody. I've got a lot of military in my family and PTSD is obviously a real problem if you come off a battlefield but I do accept that you can have it in other forms."

Emma Watson

Like many of his Twitter feuds with female celebs, Piers' with Emma began with a photoshoot as she posed for one in 2017 for an edition of Vanity Fair.

In one of the photos, Emma could be seen posing in a white bolero as the outline of her breasts could be shown.

He went on to accuse her of being a hypocrite, remarking: "How does exposing her breasts to the world fit with Emma’s condemnation of Beyoncé doing the same? A generous observer might say ‘uneasily’. A less generous observer would brand it flaming hypocrisy."

However, Emma hit back by republishing the 2014 interview he had referred to, in which she said that she had sometimes felt "conflicted" about the "male voyeuristic" part of some of Beyonce's videos.

Yet, in the same chat, she also concluded that the pop star was "empowering" because the ownership of her sexuality was "her choice".

She went on to tweet at Piers: "Feminism is not a stick with which to beat other women. It’s about freedom, it’s about liberation, it’s about equality.

"I really don’t know what my tits have to do with it."

Piers hit out at Emma yet again in 2021 by criticising the "ungrateful" Harry Potter stars who haven't supported JK Rowling for sharing her controversial views on transgender rights.

Susan Sarandon

Piers had a brief spat with the Hollywood legend that is Susan Sarandon back in 2016 after he took offence to her SAG Awards 2016 outfit in a pearl-clutching-esque series of tweets.

After branding her "tacky" and "publicity-seeking", she wryly hit back at him with a throwback photo of herself wearing only a bra in 1975's The Rocky Picture Show.

She tweeted: "Today’s #TBT is dedicated to @piersmorgan."

Chrissy Teigen

Piers and Chrissy have been Twitter enemies pretty much since they both joined the platform, with the pair throwing jabs at one another through the years.

Back in 2016, the former GMB host clashed with Chrissy and husband John Legend after claiming Muhammad Ali "said more racist things" than Donald Trump.

He tweeted at the time: "Muhammad Ali said far more inflammatory/racist things about white people than Donald Trump ever has about Muslims. fact "

His inflammatory comment sparked a huge backlash on Twitter, prompting Piers to follow up with: "I hope people don't make me sound too perfect when I die. No coats of sugar please."

John Legend was one of thousands to respond to the quip, writing: "you could test us by announcing your retirement."

His wife also joined in, replying to his comment with: "from what? trolling isn't a job (I've tried)"

Taking a shot at Chrissy, Piers hit back: "Maybe I should take up a proper job, like modelling?"

So it's unsurprising that Piers was delighted in 2021 when Chrissy's historic nasty tweets made to Courtney Stodden and others over the years resurfaced.

He branded her a "repulsive hypocritical bully" and has insisted that the "vile truth" has finally come out about the star.

Piers also called for the cookbook author to be cancelled as it "couldn't happen to a nastier hypocritical bully".

Alex Beresford

Considered one of Piers' most famous onscreen fallouts, the pair became embroiled in a fierce row - and are still yet to mend that rift (if Piers' recent comments about the ITV weatherman are anything to go by).

Piers quit GMB, after co-hosting the show with Susanna Reid since 2015, after bosses called for him to apologise for remarks he made about Meghan Markle.

Following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which Meghan claimed that a royal voiced "concerns" over Archie's skin colour and that she felt suicidal but wasn't able to get help, Piers accused her of lying as he fiercely lashed out at her on Good Morning Britain.

Piers famously stormed off after a row with Alex (pixel8000)

After a Twitter battle with weatherman Alex , Piers called him to appear on the show the next day to debate the topic.

However, a furious row erupted on set, which led to Piers storming off set as Alex called his behaviour "diabolical".

Piers later claimed that he would have slapped his co-star if he hadn't walked off.

Referring to the shocking moment Will Smith smacked Chris Rock live on air, he tweeted in March: "So much snowflakey bullsh*t re Oscars smackdown. You can think Will Smith wrong to slap Chris Rock but still understand why he did it if he thought - incorrectly - Rock was deliberately mocking his wife’s alopecia in front of a gazillion people. I’d have probably done the same."

A rather sceptical follower shared a screen grab of the famous moment he walked off GMB and tweeted: "Course you would!"

Piers quote tweeted the remark and wrote: "Ironically, I walked out to stop myself slapping him…"

Kim Kardashian

Piers has long been a huge critic of Kim, often blasting her for being "tone-deaf".

Back in 2016, Piers offered to buy her clothes after she posted a now-famous naked mirror selfie with only two black lines covering her privates.

He tweeted: "I know the old man’s $50 million in debt, Kim – but this is absurd. Want me to buy you some clothes?"

Refusing to rise to the bait, Kim replied wryly: "hey @piersmorgan never offer to buy a married woman clothes. That’s some Ashley Madison type s***."

In 2020, Piers went on to blast Kim as a "tone-deaf imbecile" after she jetted off to a private island to ring in her 40s amid the pandemic.

A year later, Piers savaged Kim's Met Gala outfit as he compared her to a "giant trash bag" and more recently blasted her controversial work comments by making a sex tape dig.

He also blasted Kim for being "repulsively tone deaf" over her ill-timed SKIMS plug.

Phillip Schofield

This Morning host Phil also had a behind-the-scenes row with Piers - which got so bad that they weren't on speaking terms.

In his 2020 autobiography, Life's What You Make It, Phil recalled that Piers had requested "memorabilia", after being told the journalist wanted to pen a series of articles on him.

Phil wrote: "As I think I've said, I save everything, so interesting bits and pieces were hunted down then sent to Piers. Nothing appeared in the paper. I was worried he may have lost all my mementos. We asked for them back. Nothing.

Phil was furious with Piers over a book he'd published (ITV)

"Eventually, unannounced, they arrived safely back at the office. A few weeks later, the unofficial biography he'd written about me, including all the stuff I'd sent him, appeared on the bookshelves. I was furious. Not so much that he had written the book, but that he had deceived me.

"We didn't speak for a long time. There were awkward moments: once, the two us were in a lift for what felt like an endless descent."

Lily Allen

Back in 2018, Piers admitted that he cancelled Lily Allen's Good Morning Britain appearance after they engaged in a brutal Twitter spat.

He snarkily tweeted: "Hi Lily, I told the team I wouldn't interview you until or if your new album is a hit. So, probably never. Sorry to disappoint, love Piers. x"

This was in response to a video Lily, who was promoting her first album in four years, had shared on Twitter.

She had told her followers: "We've been putting together my promo schedule and the first people that asked me to come on the TV was Good Morning Britain last week. And then this morning Good Morning Britain called up my people and said, 'After Lily and Piers' Twitter spat, would Lily like to cancel coming on the show?'

"To which I responded, 'No, course not. What, do you think I'm scared of Piers Morgan?' Anyway, that message went back and I just got the news that I was cancelled. Cos Piers don't want that smoke!"

It comes after Piers criticised Lily after she wore an AK-47 necklace while performing at a London festival, which spiralled into a vicious row.

Daniel Craig

Piers dared to take a pop at 007 in 2018 after mocking him over a photo of the James Bond actor carrying his baby in a sling.

Tweeting a picture of the Skyfall actor taking a walk with his newborn daughter strapped to his chest, Morgan wrote: "Oh 007.. not you as well?!!! #emasculatedBond."

His tweet sparked a furious outcry online, with Captain America star Chris Evans springing to the actor's defence: "You really have to be so uncertain of your own masculinity to concern yourself with how another man carries his child.

Piers had a pop at 007 himself (REUTERS)

"Any man who wastes time quantifying masculinity is terrified on the inside."

Desperate for some kind of backup, Piers tweeted US president Donald Trump – “Do you have a view about papooses, Mr President @realDonaldTrump?

"Everyone else seems to be getting very worked up about them. I don’t really have you down as a papoose kinda guy, but then you’re full of surprises.”

Andi Peters

During his time on Good Morning Britain, Piers and Andi made a number of sly jabs at one another.

Among a number of awkward moments included Piers telling Andi that he would "pay him £3,000 to shut up", prompting the ITV competition presenter to hit back at him for being "rude".

Piers was also not impressed after Andi appeared to "fat-shame" him on the show.

He had earlier said that he needed to be "shamed" into losing weight after gaining almost a stone during lockdown.

But Piers wasn't too happy when Andi also made a dig at his weight - branding him a "chubster" after some of the viewers' brutal comments towards him...
