The ever controversial Piers Morgan has agreed to donate £1,000 to a charity of Gary Neville's choice, following Manchester United's 3-1 victory over Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday (4 September).
Morgan agreed a bet with Neville over the result of the Premier League fixture, with the Gunners having won five in a row and sitting atop of the table at the time.
The bet was made after Morgan urged Arsenal to sign West Ham and England midfielder Declan Rice, in a shocking deadline day move. "If we want to challenge for the title, Arsenal should break the bank for Declan Rice," Tweeted Morgan. "Go big of go home."

The Mirror reports that on seeing the Tweet, Neville replied: "You'll get done at Old Trafford [on] Sunday! Forget the title." Morgan replied with the upmost confidence, writing: "Fancy a £1,000 bet to charity on that, T-Bag?"
By 'T-Bag' Piers was referring to Theodore 'T-Bag' Bagwell, a fictional character from Prison Break who some fans have likened Neville's appearance to on social media. "Yep!" replied Neville, accepting the bet, with Morgan then fairly adding: "Done. £500 each if it's a draw."
After United stormed to victory thanks to a debut goal from Antony and a brace from Marcus Rashford, Morgan said: "Name your charity, T-Bag - payment will be made in the morning." Neville went on to ask Piers to donate to the Bury Cancer Support Centre - an independent charity who provide support to anyone impacted by the devastating disease.
Some praised Neville and Morgan for their act of apparent generosity. One social media user, wrote: "Don’t agree with much you say piers and actually think you’re a clown most of the time but this is brilliant. Well done," while another, added: "Fair play Piers - turn a negative into a huge positive very well played."
A third, simply added: "That's brill," while a fourth, echoed: "Top job Piers, frustrated by your team but helping a great charity."
However, others have claimed that their actions were inappropriate - citing millionaires waging huge public bets during a cost-of-living crisis. One scorned: "Nice to see u throwing money about whilst most people are struggling," while another, added: "Amazing, in a time when families are eating out of wheelie bins, these two are throwing a grand around like it’s confetti. Classy."
A third, commented: "People are worrying about food or heat this winter and you two openly bet £1000 like it’s pennies. Hideous."
