Piers Morgan has implied the Royal Family may not be looking forward to seeing Prince Harry next month.
The broadcaster, a long-time critic of Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, took to Twitter today to share his thoughts on the news Harry will be attending his father's Coronation on his own.
Quote-tweeting the statement from Buckingham Palace, Piers fumed: "I'd love to know exactly who at Buckingham Palace is 'pleased' he's attending..."
In a statement issued this afternoon, Buckingham Palace announced Duke of Sussex will attend the King’s Coronation next month but the Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
After weeks of speculation regarding if Harry and Meghan will attend Charles' party, the statement from the Palace has prompted a huge reaction online - with celebrities also taking to social media to offer their opinions on Harry's RVSP.
"Sounds like a sensible compromise. Good luck to all concerned," one Twitter user declared as the news of Harry's planned attendance broke earlier today.
"Protecting his family I suspect, good for him," another added, as a third quipped: "He needs new material for his next book obviously!"
One Twitter user joked how the couple "couldn’t get a babysitter", referring to the fact Meghan will be remaining in America to take care of their young children.
Another questioned the nation's interest in the Royal Family and the upcoming Coronation in general, tweeting: "I am fascinated by how unremarkable and unimportant this is….. I am baffled by people who follow this stuff."
The Palace said in a statement today: "Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May.
"The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet."
After the announcement was made, Omid Scobie - a journalist whose work focuses on the Duchess of Sussex - tweeted: "I understand that Archie's fourth birthday (also on May 6) played a factor in the couple's decision.
"Expect it to be a fairly quick trip to the UK for Prince Harry, who will only be attending the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey."
The announcement ends months of speculation about whether or not the couple would be at the Coronation, which is falls on the same day as Archie's fourth birthday.
No exact sum has been given yet on how much the coronation will cost British taxpayer but it's been estimated at £100million.
Charles' late mother Queen Elizabeth II's Coronation in 1953 cost £1.5million which works out at around £50million today.
