Piers Morgan insisted 'nation wanted him back on TV' before slamming Harry and Meghan

Piers Morgan previously believed the nation 'had been waiting' for him to be back on television screens before he slammed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in his new column.

The former Good Morning Britain presenter - who famously stormed off set after getting called out for his Meghan Markle comments - promoted his show Uncensored back in April and talked about 'expressing his views strongly'.

The 57-year-old constantly faces backlash over his controversial opinions and recently said he isn't 'fooled' by Harry and Prince William's attempts to put on a united front following the death of the Queen last Thursday.

He also called Harry and Meghan 'whiny money-grabbers'.

Five months ago, in April, Piers truly believed that the public wanted him back on television as he promoted his TalkTV show.

Speaking about the whats, whens, and whys of Uncensored on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show, he said: "The why is because the nation has been waiting for me to be back on television. Where is it? It’s on TalkTV.

Piers also said the show celebrates free speech.

"I’m in the opinion business. Everything I do is driven, really, by my opinions, and I think that comes from being a journalist…" he said.

"As a tabloid editor for many years, you’ve got to work out what you feel strongly about each day, and express it in a lively and vivid way on the front pages.”

Following true to his statement on 'expressing himself lively', the TV presenter has been sharing his harsh opinions on certain members of the Royal Family.

He hasn't been shy in sharing his dislike for Harry and Meghan and spends a lot of time criticising their every move.

Earlier this week, Piers wrote about the death of Queen Elizabeth II as well as how the rest of her family are putting on a united front as they mourn her passing.

"Queen Elizabeth II espoused values of honesty, integrity, decency, stoicism, resilience, duty, service, humility and selfless devotion to her country. How does any of that compare to the selfish, whiny, money-grabbing and damaging way Harry and Meghan have conducted themselves since then?" he said.

"Their hypocritical exploitation of their royal status for vast personal financial gain, while simultaneously trashing the institution that bestowed their titles upon them, caused enormous hurt to the Queen in her last few years, especially during the period when her husband, Philip, was seriously ill and then died, and to the new king."

Last week, following the news of Queen Elizabeth's death at 96, Piers Morgan was one of the first celebrities to pay tribute to the monarch.

Piers described the queen as 'dignified, humble, wise, stoic, and dedicated to duty and service to the country she loved', as well as the 'greatest monarch in history and the greatest of Britons'.
