Piers Morgan has become embroiled in a furious row with MP Christian Wakeford after sparking backlash with a tweet about the England Women's National Football Team.

The former Good Morning Britain star, 57, has been slammed after sharing a tweet where he referred to the team as "persons who menstruate football team".

Following the Lionesses' 2-1 victory against Spain in the Women's Euro quarter final game on Wednesday evening, Piers tweeted to share his congratulations– in what appeared to be a dig about transgender women in sport, despite there being no transgender people in the England women's team.
