Piers Morgan has slammed the 2022 Met Gala, dubbing it 'hideously inappropriate'.
This year's theme of Gilded Glamour and White Tie provided some of the most opulent, lavish and over-the-top looks we've ever seen - but former Good Morning Britain host Piers, 57, was not a fan.
The outspoken TV star took to Twitter to slam the annual ceremony which is held in New York after a night that saw Kim Kardashian squeeze into Marilyn Monroe's iconic gold dress and Katy Perry storm the red carpet in one of her most elegant looks to date.
Amid the current crisis in Ukraine, Piers insisted that the 2022 Met Gala was 'tone-deaf' and claimed it 'glorified' celebrity 'bulls**t'.
"This year’s ‘gilded theme’ Met Gala, held amid the backdrop of war, pandemic and ruinous inflation, is the most tone-deaf, self-indulgent, narcissistic, hideously inappropriate ‘let them eat cake!’ orgy of vain-glorious celebrity bullsh*t in modern history," Piers fumed.
The controversial star then went on to claim that 'fashion is dead' as she shared a video of the Kardashian-Jenner clan arriving on the red carpet of the prestigious annual event.
Following his rant, fans flocked to Twitter to share their reactions as several admitted that they couldn't help but agree with Piers' sentiment.
"Agreed! I guess when the world revolves around you there’s no need to concern yourself with anything happening in it," one Twitter user replied.
"Hate to admit it, but I actually agree with Piers Morgan for once," another mocked.
Meanwhile, a third shared: "It does raise a lot of money for charity, but these so-called celebrities couldn't care less if they tried."
This year's Gilded Glamour and White Tie theme, which is the second part of a two-part series after it reopened for the first time since the pandemic.
The first part of the exhibition was called In America: A Lexicon of Fashion, which celebrated all things American Fashion.
Usually the event draws in around 600 celebrities, but this year the numbers are closer to 400.
The guest list for this year's star-studded event was presided over by Anna Wintour, who has headed up the gala since 1995.
Despite cherry picking this year's attendees, the queen of fashion didn't make an appearance.
