Piers Morgan didn’t need to give Nick Fuentes a platform, but at least he challenged him

The Piers Morgan and Nick Fuentes interview didn’t need to happen. But it did and at least Morgan called Fuentes out. Two men no one really wants to listen to anymore faced off and it has people wondering if Morgan is leaning more liberal these days. And that’s saying something.

Fuentes was on Morgan’s show Piers Morgan Uncensored where the two broke down a lot of the controversial and harmful opinions of Fuentes. In the over 2 hour video, Fuentes and Morgan talk about everything from Fuentes thinking Adolf Hitler is cool to his belief that women shouldn’t vote. Morgan also uncovered the fact that Fuentes has never had sex. This came about after Fuentes said he was not gay. He then said he found women “difficult to be around.”

Morgan though wasn’t allowing Fuentes to get away with things in this interview. But he didn’t need to allow Fuentes to have 64 million views either.

The entire thing is jarring, particularly when Fuentes makes an assumption about his entire generation and their feelings on Hitler. But given the rise in Fuentes’ popularity, who has over a million followers on X and over 500k on Rumble, it is frightening to see what exactly he puts out into the world. I, personally, don’t get it. I listen to his voice and feel my brain cells frying each second he’s talking but people to listen and take his words to heart.

We shouldn’t be further platforming people like this but it is frightening to see what kind of “man” Fuentes is. It is the same idea behind the rise of Andrew Tate. Why were so many young men suddenly radicalized? Because they’re listening to men like Tate and Fuentes spout horrible things about people and think that’s the truth.

Even so, stop platforming this men

Look, I do appreciate (ew) Morgan for standing up against Fuentes. He didn’t let his comments on Hitler go by without making a fool of Fuentes. And he even, in his own weird way, stood up for women when Fuentes said we didn’t deserve the right to vote. Still, platforming Fuentes in this way is only going to get him more reach.

Think about it this way: You hate when an actor is overexposed, right? You see them everywhere and you just get mad. On the flip, there fans of such actor who want to see them all the time and the new content helps them post. That’s kind of a similar deal with people who listen to and also support the abhorrent beliefs of Fuentes.

So when we platform him, those people are going to use it to post on their channels. If you search his name, there are plenty of people all sharing his clips in support of him. And that’s because he got a platform, had a place to talk, and people unpacked that.

On the one hand, it is a moment of “good on Morgan” (unfortunately) because he didn’t let Fuentes say whatever he wanted unchecked. But he also still gave him the space to say his incredibly harmful beliefs and that’s terrifying. So maybe let’s stop?
