Piers Morgan claims victory as TV show gets 400,000 viewers - but is beaten by snooker

Piers Morgan celebrated a triumphant ratings victory as he returned for the second instalment of his Uncensored show on Tuesday evening.

The former Good Morning Britain host, 57, said he was “making TV history” with his TalkTV show, after it was revealed that the show’s opening night pulled in more viewers than the BBC, Sky and GB News' ratings combined.

In an opening monologue tonight, Piers said: “Last night's show made TV history. Today I have been showered with equal dollops of praise and criticism.

“I promised to annoy all the right people and we are off to a flying start.”

Piers boasted how his explosive interview with Donald Trump made headlines around the world, before confirming world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury will be interviewed on his show tomorrow night.

Piers' evening show at 8pm raked in 317,000 viewers, while Uncensored celebrated 588,000 in total tuning in on linear TV platforms, including a repeat at 11pm.

It made TalkTV the most-watched news channel across its three hours of peak primetime with 809,000 viewers tuning in.

After celebrating the ratings win at the start of the show, Piers moved into the second part of his interview with Donald Trump, in which the former US President praised The Queen and called the Prince Andrew scandal a “terrible thing for a lot of people”.

Piers also finally aired the moment his interview with Donald Trump came to a conclusion.

Ahead of the interview, Trump had slammed the show for releasing what he called "rigged" preview clips to show him walking out, which Piers finally cleared up on Tuesday by airing the end of the interview in full.

Piers said to viewers: “We usually would have cut this out. It's quite fun to watch what is going on behind the scenes.”

The clip showed the pair discussing Trump’s recent hole-in-one on the golf course, with the former President’s staff becoming increasingly agitated behind the camera at the length of the interview.

The final moments of the interview showed the pair finish the chat relatively amicably, with a handshake and smiles, only for Trump to stand up and mutter “very dishonest” after asking the cameras to be turned off.

After the matter had finally been cleared up, TalkTV viewers were left concluding that Trump had not walked off the set as viewers had been led to believe in the lead-up to the show’s premiere.
