Piers Morgan brands Kirstie Allsopp's property advice 'unbelievably stupid'

Kirstie Allsopp's advice to prospective first-time buyers has been strongly criticised by Piers Morgan.

The broadcaster lambasted Kirstie, who is the face of popular property programme show Location, Location, Location, after she said young people would be able to buy their first homes if they gave up certain luxuries - and head to Newcastle.

Mr Morgan launched a Twitter tirade, branding the advice as "unbelievably stupid."

As reported by Birmingham Live, Piers shared his displeasure over Kirstie's comments with his 7.9 million followers.

He wrote: "Every time Kirstie Allsopp trends, I check why and see she's said another unbelievably stupid, ludicrously ill-informed and woefully privileged thing.

"Then I wait for her to respond to the entirely justified outrage by throwing her toys out of the pram & quitting Twitter again."

Kirstie had suggested young people give up holidays abroad, gym visits and takeaway coffee.

Location, Location, Location, the Channel 4 programme Kirsty has presented with Phil Spencer since 2000, recently worked with a young woman who had moved back with her parents during lockdown.

Kirstie said: “She realised she loved Newcastle and bought a great flat for £160,000, a two-bed maisonette with a garden. Where else can you do that?

"When I bought my first property, going abroad, the EasyJet, coffee, gym, Netflix lifestyle didn't exist," the Location, Location, Location, star shared.

"I used to walk to work with a sandwich. And on payday I'd go for a pizza, and to a movie, and buy a lipstick."

She wrote: "I’m up in Nottingham right now and there’s a nice three-bedroom home with a long garden on for £320,000. I get enraged when people say they can’t afford to buy. They can."

The Relocation Relocation star from Channel 4 then said: "But they have to move, which is hard if you don’t have roots there. I know there are many who can’t afford to buy, but others are not willing to make the sacrifices."

It is not the first time drama has played out on Twitter between the two opinionated celebrities . The pair famously traded insults on Twitter in March 2020 when she branded Piers “a total b*****d” after he recommended she should be “rallying support for NHS workers”.
