Piers Morgan and Dan Walker in furious spat over RMT chief Mick Lynch interview

Piers Morgan has reignited his Twitter spat with Dan Walker. The pair's furious war of words comes after the Channel 5 News presenter shared a clip of his interview with the general secretary of the RMT union.

The 45-year-old, who recently left his role at BBC Breakfast, posted the chat he had with Mick Lynch about the current rail strike action on social media. Alongside it he wrote: "We live in the age of the jabby, confrontational interview and the RMT’s Mick Lynch has had a few of them. If you treat people with respect, you can still ask tough questions and get decent answers allowing your audience to make their own minds up."

Dan said that he "reposted" the interview because of a message he received. Dan explained: "I reposted this because someone messaged me and said: 'Why are all you journos always out for a fight with every guest?'. That is not the case. Information remains the most important thing."

The tweet led to a reaction from Piers, who had conducted his own interview with Mick Lynch on his TalkTV show. During the exchange Piers had challenged the RMT chief over his Facebook profile picture which showcases himself as Thunderbirds villain The Hood. Quoting Dan's tweet Piers wrote: "Is there anyone more deluded in world television than Desperate Dan.. the world's most boring interviewer."

Dan quickly responded with laughing emoji faces and said: "Why is it 'boring' to let someone actually speak rather than shouting over them all the time?" Hitting back Piers then replied: "Mate, I had to leave GMB for being too exciting/dangerous. You had to leave the BBC because even by their standards you're a mood-hoovering dullard. But your pompous lectures on how to do interviews are bloody funny, I'll give you that."

Not prepared to back down Dan then shared a gif of Piers famously storming out of the Good Morning Britain studio in March 2021 and wrote: "You left GMB because one of your colleagues called you out. Your 'exciting/dangerous' response to that was [walking out]. Next time I promise to spend at least 5 minutes on Thunderbirds."

While Piers didn't directly respond to Dan he did share TalkTV's viewing figures, revealing how his own interview with Mick had reached more than two million views so far. Piers later shared an update revealing it had now received three million views. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
