Piers then revealed who would be replacing him, telling his fans: "My colleagues @MrHarryCole & @KateEMcCann are kindly stepping into the hot seat."
"Nothing worse than food poisoning. Hope you feel better soon," one an replied. "Sushi is the devil. Get better soon," another echoed.
"Get better soon, Pier," wrote a third. "Stick to fish and chips next time you fancy seafood!!" Following the episode, stand-in presenters Kate McCann and Harry Cole shared two side-by-side pictures on social media, before and after their gig.
"Before (the nerves!)… and after," Kate wrote, responding Piers said: "Great job guys, thanks. @MrHarryCole."
"We did our best! Get well soon xx," replied his co-star. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
