Three lanes had to be closed on the M1 southbound between junctions 28 and 29 following a "serious collision." Only one lane on the road remained open with police warning drivers to expect delays due to the crash.
Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit alerted followers on the Twitter to the collision. Their tweet read: "The M1 Southbound between J29 and J28 has three lanes closed due a serious collision. Only one lane running so expect delays for a while."
All lanes reopened at around 7.33am after emergency services cleared the scene. National Highways East Midlands updated people via Twitter, saying: "All lanes are now open and the scene is now clear. Thanks for your patience. Have a safe onward journey.
