
Police have arrested a Portuguese tourist for spray painting a religious site, while seven French tourists were detained for disorderly Songkran water play.
Officers detained Henrique, 42, on April 14 after he allegedly sprayed graffiti on an Islamic graveyard wall at Ao Makham. Seized items included 87 used spray cans, one paint container and a roller.
He faces charges of damaging public property.
Local residents, including Islamic community leaders, expressed anger over the incident. A foreign woman was also questioned over possible involvement.
Separately, Patong police arrested seven French tourists on April 12 for splashing water, blocking traffic and disturbing others on Prachanukhro Road.
They were fined and warned after refusing to follow police orders to disperse.
