The Boston Celtics won Game 5 of the finals 106-88, securing a 4-1 series victory and clinching the 2024 NBA title in the process. With the win, Boston also secured an 18th championship, the most of any franchise in the league.
Boston jumped out to an early lead and never really looked back. All five Celtics starters scored 9 or more points, something the Mavericks were unable to match. On the other end, Boston was physical and aggressive on defense, making life even more difficult for Dallas. By halftime the Celtics had amassed a huge lead, and from there, Boston was able to cruise to a convincing win. The win marks the first Celtics title since 2008 and second since 1986.
