The Boston Celtics took the floor as a team against the Philadelphia 76ers for the first time since being eliminated by the Miami Heat in Game 7 of the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals, and looked as rusty as one might think given the long layoff between games. Between sloppy play and backward shorts, there were plenty of areas for the Celtics to sharpen their game on in the preseason’s remaining tilts.
Thankfully for Boston fans, the Sixers had plenty of their own rust to shake off, dropping their preseason opener to the Celtics 114-106 in a fun game that was surprisingly competitive for an exhibition game with the bench putting the contest away behind Payton Pritchard’s 26 points.
