Four photographers had to be rushed to hospital after suffering injuries when Brodie Kostecki crashed his car into a wall during the Supercars' Gold Coast round.

The Dick Johnson Racing ace lost control of his Ford Mustang for the second time this weekend during qualifying on Saturday.

Kostecki cannoned into a tyre wall on the Surfers Paradise street circuit at the exit of the first chicane with just seconds remaining in the session.

"Two photographers sustained ankle injuries, one suffered an elbow injury, and a fourth received a head injury," a Supercars spokesperson said.

"All four are alert, talking, very stable, and will be transported to hospital for further assessment.

"All are in a stable condition."

Changes have been made to where photographers position themselves for the rest of the round.

The photographers will no longer be permitted to stand or take photos from turn one until after turn three.

"Motorsport Australia has implemented changes to photographer access in that area for the remainder of the event," a Supercars spokesperson said.

"Supercars extends its thanks to the volunteers, officials and medical crews for their swift and professional response."

Kostecki, the 2023 Supercars champion and last year's Bathurst 1000 winner, has been ruled out of taking part in Saturday's race in a gigantic blow to his hopes in the inaugural finals series.

His Mustang has been taken off-site for repairs so he can try to race in the 250km race on Sunday.
