A telecom company have applied to build a 30m mast after being told to remove their equipment from one of Ayr's demolition-threatened high flats.
Last week, South Ayrshire Council said it was in advanced talks over the relocation of the mast, contracted to sit on the top of one of the blocks until 2025.
The operator EE was served with a notice to quit, with South Ayrshire Council making a push to approve demolition prior to the May local elections.
EE also provides the council's mobile telecom services.
An attempt had been made to install a mast on Whitletts Road, but the operator said it was forced to seek an alternative due to issues acquiring the site.
The proposed site is located off Craigie Way to the rear of the allotment gardens.
The application states: "To address any residential amenity issues as much as possible the monopole and associated equipment has been placed around numerous mature trees.
"The site has been carefully selected in a position that benefits from some screening effects so as to provide the required new coverage to the area whilst minimising visual intrusion for residential properties.
"The monopole style design has been specified in order to allow the proposal to merge with the numerous street lighting columns distributed around the vicinity of the site."
In a letter to planners, agents WHP Telecoms wrote: "The location has been identified as being necessary for EE business development and meets its specific technical and operational requirements.
"We are committed to maintaining a positive relationship with all local planning authorities."
The letter also highlighted a section of legislation that requires South Ayrshire Council to come to a decision within 56 days of the application. This will mean a determination will need to be made by mid-February.
Last week, the council agreed to push forward with the £1.9 million demolition of the Riverside Place site despite a number of residents still awaiting options to move out.
The council cited a need to start work before bird 'nesting season' as reason for the fast track nature of the decision.
