The Masked Singer returned to our screens on New Year's Day as viewers met the first six masked celebrities of the new series. Knitting, Jellyfish, Otter, Ghost, Cat and Mouse and Phoenix took to the stage as armchair and panel detectives attempted to work out their identities.

Viewers watching at home and celeb panellists Davina McCall, Rita Ora,Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan were blown away by the singing talents of the fearsome-looking Phoenix with a charming voice as they put their own stamp on the Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers hit Get Lucky. One fan @Samanth22356123 cheered: "Phoenix for the win!!!!"

Later, Ghost became the first character to be unmasked on the celeb singing contest as football pundit and presenter Chris Kamara while Phoenix flew through to the next stage of the popular guessing game. @hulme_steph tweeted: "I know Phoenix's singing voice from somewhere and I can't think of where, it is gonna bug me so much."

But other fans were certain that it's Dr Who icon David Tennant, who was recently revealed to be the 14th incarnation of the famous Time Lord. The Broadchurch star rose to fame for his role as the 10th incarnation of the Doctor from 2005 to 2010 and 2013.

In October it was announced that the Scottish actor would return to the show as the regenerating doctor and would take over from Jodie Whittaker, making him the first actor to play as two incarnations. David is currently starred as Alexander Litvinenko in the ITV1 dramatisation Litvinenko and he played DI Alec Hardy in the crime drama Broadchurch between 2013 and 2017.
