Phoebe Bridgers dominates 2024 Grammys, winning four prestigious awards

Phoebe Bridgers of Boygenius performs at the Coachella Music & Arts Festival at the Empire Polo Club on Saturday, April 15, 2023, in Indio, Calif. Bridgers received seven Grammy nominations on Friday

The 2024 Grammy Awards ceremony has come to a close, leaving music enthusiasts buzzing with excitement over the winners. Despite the rainy weather in Los Angeles, the biggest names in the industry gathered to accept their well-deserved accolades. What set this year's Grammys apart from previous editions was the absence of a dominant force. Unlike past years where a single artist or band would sweep multiple categories, the 2024 Grammys embraced a more diverse distribution of awards. So, who were the top winners at this year's event?

Phoebe Bridgers emerged as the night's most decorated musician, walking away with an impressive four Grammy wins. Bridgers kicked off the evening by sharing the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with SZA for their collaboration 'Ghost in the Machine.' From there, Bridgers continued her winning streak, securing a solo trophy and three additional wins as a member of the rock band Boygenius.

Four artists tied for the second-highest number of Grammy wins in 2024, each claiming three trophies and garnering recognition for their exceptional talent.

Boygenius, the band that played a pivotal role in Bridgers' rise to stardom, triumphed in three categories. Their wins included Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song for their track 'Not Strong Enough,' as well as Best Alternative Music Album for their record titled The Record.

SZA, who entered the night with the most nominations at nine, solidified her successful career further by picking up three Grammy Awards. While she may not have won in the major categories as some anticipated, her talent did not go unnoticed. SZA took home the awards for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best R&B Song for her track 'Snooze,' and Best Progressive R&B Album for her project titled SOS.

Victoria Monét, the recipient of this year's Best New Artist award—an honor that can only be nominated for once—also proved her worth by snagging two additional trophies. In addition to Best New Artist, Monét received recognition for Best R&B Album and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical for Jaguar II. While the latter award credits the engineers behind the album, Monét's involvement behind the scenes merits her inclusion.

One of the most talked-about stories of the night involved Killer Mike, who swept the rap categories. His single 'Scientists & Engineers' earned him both Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance, which he shared with André 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane. Moreover, Killer Mike's album Michael secured the Best Rap Album award. However, shortly after his enthusiastic acceptance speeches, the artist was arrested by the LAPD for unrelated charges, leaving a bittersweet note on his otherwise triumphant evening.

Several other notable artists took home two Grammy wins this year. Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Finneas, Miley Cyrus, Lecrae, Jason Isbell, Fred Again, Jack Antonoff, André 3000, and Chris Stapleton all received well-deserved recognition for their contributions to the music industry.

The 2024 Grammy Awards showcased the incredible talent and diversity within the music world. With no single artist dominating the field, this year's winners truly represented a range of genres and styles. As the curtain falls on another spectacular Grammy ceremony, audiences can't help but eagerly anticipate the next wave of musical excellence that will grace the stage in the years to come.
