Those tuning into ITV1's This Morning this week were welcomed by Holly Willoughby and Alison Hammond, with the new Great British Bake Off host filling in for Phillip Schofield. During the show that aired on Monday, March 27, Holly introduced her new co-star.
Phillip's absence was not explained, but Holly did address it, telling viewers at home: "Phillip is having the week off so all the adults have left the building." Alison, who normally presents This Morning on Fridays with Dermot O'Leary, also returned to present This Morning on Tuesday, March 28.
Then, ITV bosses announced that comedian and The Masked Singer presenter Joel Dommet would be replacing Phillip on Wednesday, March 29, and Thursday, March 30. Sharing a picture of Holly and Joel on social media, This Morning wrote: "Join @hollywills and guest presenter @joeldommett, this Wednesday and Thursday on #ThisMorning! See you at 10am on ITV1, STV and @ITVX!"
And it looks like fans of Phillip will have to wait a little longer before he takes his usual spot on the show alongside co-host Holly. This is because he will be taking his usual two-week break for the school holidays.
During an ad break on Thursday, March 30, This Morning revealed that Alison and Dermot would be replacing Holly and Phil for the Easter break. In the announcement, the regular Friday presenters appear in a flashback clip in the This Morning studio, reports The Mirror.
The news comes after Joel’s first day on ITV’s This Morning was met with widespread acclaim. One person wrote: "Loving @joeldommett with @hollywills today! You gotta give him something permanent @thismorning He’s natural, real & funny. A second then added: "Petition to get @joeldommett a permanent spot on #thismorning - I've not laughed like this at This Morning in a long time!"
