Phillip Schofield may have just given fans the answer to the question Emmerdale fans were asking as Jeff Hordley appeared on This Morning. The actor, who is best known for playing Cain Dingle in the ITV soap, appeared on the daytime show to chat about his latest storyline.
Emmerdale viewers have been left speculating after Wednesday night's trip to the Dales revealed that the Dingle bad boy was involved in a car crash as part of the soap's special week of flash-forward episodes.
Cain has been drafted in to help Charity Dingle after she discovered her son, Noah, had been spying on and stalking his former love interest Chloe Harris. The horrified mum was begging the newcomer not to go to the police but as she did, Al Chapman went to pay her son a visit.

As Charity headed home, she saw no sign of Noah but Al had let himself in. He then went on a hunt for the 18-year-old before dining him at the pavilion ready to delete all the evidence of his crimes against Chloe off his laptop.
But before Al could get Noah's laptop, Cain arrived and Noah was able to get away to The Woolpack where Charity informed him he'd be going to Ireland into things settled down and that Cain will take him. However, it has been made clear that Cain's plan to get Noah to the airport goes drastically wrong as the flash-forward showed Noah begging for his life while appearing to be trapped underground while Cain was seen bloodied and slumped at the steering wheel of his car.
Appearing on This Morning, Jeff, who has played Cain for the best part of 22 years, was quizzed on his character's fate and while he teased that his character was in"“car chase jeopardy”, but didn't want to spoil the outcome for fans.
Rochelle said: "We know it doesn't end too well." Jeff replied: "No, there's a wee bit of jeopardy that's involved after the car chase, shall we say. I do remember Lucy who plays Chas, when I was driving doing a bit of breaking because we were going too fast. But yeah it was good fun." He later added: "I can't really say too much because I don't want to spoil the episode."
However, cheeky Phillip, 60, rephrased his question for the 52-year-old actor and said: "Well let me put it another way, how are the preparations for the big anniversary going?" to which Jeff replied without a second thought: "Brilliant. We as the cast don't really know what's going on. It's being kept close to the chest of the producers. That's in October, 50 years. It's going to be great."
The presenter added: "You’re looking forward to that then?" and Jeff happily replied: "It’s going to be great, yeah," after which Phil laughed and pointed out: "So you’re not dead."
Wrapping up their chat, Phillip added: "There's no way they're going to kill you," to which Jeff simply asked: "Why not?" as Phil ended the conversation: "I'm sure tonight's is going to be an excellent episode which I'm sure you're going to survive."
