Phillip Schofield shares ITV This Morning concern as he reunites with Holly Willoughby for 'play date'

Phillip Schofield has detailed a concern he has ahead of returning to This Morning next week. The presenter took to Instagram to share a glimpse at his early reunion with co-host Holly Willoughby. It has been several weeks since the pair have been seen together after temporarily saying goodbye to the ITV daytime show.

The hosting duo last presented the popular programme in July when they hosted a rare Friday show. They have since been replaced by a whole host of famous faces, including Rochelle Humes, Josie Gibson and Vernon Kay. And in that time viewers also gave a big welcome back to Ruth Langsford who took to the helm with 'TV son' Rylan Clark.

But normality is set to resume on Monday (September 5) with Phillip, 60, and Holly, 41, returning to the ITV studio to kick off autumn This Morning. But before they get back in front of the cameras, the pair decided to enjoy an off-screen 'play date'.

Holly was the first to share a snap of the duo, beaming for the camera. Phillip looked chilled as he donned a white t-shirt while Holly also appeared fresh-faced in a black shirt with her blonde locks tied back with a few strands framing her face.

"Well look who came over for a play date before school starts… " the mum-of-three penned alongside the snap to her millions of followers. She then added: "See you on Monday @schofe @thismorning … I’ve missed you!!!!! Can’t wait to see you all!!!!"

And fans were thrilled. @honeybxx commented: "Yes!! Love you two!!!" @donnabrightman said: "Missed you guys. The guest presenters have all been amazing, but you, it’s all about you." @brighdin990 wrote: "Yah the dream time is back missed u both." @kevinc3510 replied: "Aww glad to see you both together again."

Phillip also shared the photo of the pair with his own millions of followers but let them in on a little worry he has before he gets back to work next week. First, he gushed: "Now that was fun!! The best day with my bestie [heart emojis] love you to bits @hollywilloughby."

But he then added: "Let’s see how well I can read an autocue on Monday with a dilated pupil." And Holly was quick to joke in response: " I might be able to see it but I still cant read it!"

It comes after Phillip underwent two procedures while he's been away from screens. The dad-of-two worried fans when she shared a photo of himself with a bandaged eye to Instagram. However, he explained: "Finally got the INCREDIBLY frustrating 'floaters' sucked out of my left eyeball," adding the eyes emoji for good measure.

He later explained that he had undergone 'Elective limited pars plana vitrectomy surgery' and was quick to tell his followers: "Firstly, no part of my treatment and surgery was gifted and I wasn’t asked to post. It is also pioneering and costly." And last week, he returned to social media to share how he'd also had the procedure done on his other eye.

In a photo, the TV star could be seen sitting atop a reclining hospital chair with a patch on his eye. He captioned the photo: "Now my right eye is done!" He added: "If the success of my summer is to be 'floater' free, that's good enough for me." The NHS says dots and lines (floaters) or flashes of light in your vision are common.

They say they are usually caused by a harmless process called posterior vitreous detachment (PVD), where the gel inside your eyes changes. While sometimes they can be caused by retinal detachment, the NHS adds that floaters and flashes can also happen for no obvious reason.
