As the UK’s political landscape falls into utter disarray, Phillip Schofield has become the latest celebrity to seemingly throw his name in the ring for the Prime Minister’s job.
Liz Truss met her demise yesterday when she resigned from her position after just 44 days as our country’s leader – the shortest term of any PM in British history.
Truss couldn’t outlast a wet lettuce and now a number of well-known stars have offered up their hand to take on the job as the next Tory leader is set to be announced before the end of the week.
This Morning presenter Phil posted a snap of himself outside 10 Downing Street with an upside down umbrella while he talked to a camera.
He cut a suave figure in a black suit with deep red tie as he looked right at home outside the iconic building.
The telly personality captioned the snap: “Ffs… ok then, surely even I couldn’t make this s**t any worse?!”
Phillip’s job application comes after he and Holly Willoughby ’s actions were criticised following claims they skipped the queue for the Queen’s lying in state but instead ITV producers said they were acting in a 'professional capacity' like other world media.
After insisting they would "never skip a queue" and receiving backing from the This Morning bosses, the pair have continued to face mixed reactions from the public.
The “Queue-gate” claims garnered the interest of the nation and led to more than 75,000 petitioning for the telly favourites to be ousted from their regular This Morning presenting slot.
Holly and Phil received a mixed reaction as NTA for Best Daytime Show for the fifth year in a row on last Thursday night [October 13], but Holly apparently left the star-studded ceremony early after their win - reportedly sneaking out and heading home around 10pm and leaving her co-host to party without her.
Holly and Phil, 60, appeared to receive a frosty reception from the audience at the event when they were named the award winners.
Among those seemingly less than impressed by the pair were the group from Loose Women. Panelist Linda Robson looked like she refused to clap their accolade and remained stone faced as the camera caught her reaction to the win.
And there were even said to be be jeers from the crowd amid the on-going fallout from Queue-gate.
