At least nine people have been injured in a shooting outside a bar, according to police.
Officers believe that multiple shooters attacked a crowd outside Jack's Bar in Kensington, Philadelphia, US, just before 11pm.
It is thought the offenders exited a black car before they opened fire, leaving two victims in an “extremely critical” condition.
ABC6 initially cited sources reporting that at least 12 people had been hurt, although authorities have not verified that figure.
Local media reported that several of those hurt were standing outside the bar, with at least 40 shots believed to have been fired.
Police have not yet established a motive for the shooting.
"We have some brazen people in this city that don't care,” first deputy commissioner of the Philadelphia Police Department John Stanford said in quotes reported by ABC6.
“They don't care how many police officers are out here. And some of them don't care how many people are out here.
“We continue to do what we need to do to get these individuals in custody.
"At this point in time, it just looks like these individuals may have spotted someone they wanted to shoot at, exited the vehicle, and began firing at the group of individuals that were there.
“We don't have much more than that in terms of motive.”
The shooting occurred on the same evening that the Philadelphia Phillies lost in baseball's World Series.
A mammoth three-run homer from Houston’s Yordan Alvarez helped the Astros win the World Series with a 4-1 victory over the Phillies in game six of the Fall Classic.
