The city of Philadelphia has reported a significant voter turnout in the ongoing election, with a total of 202,713 mail-in ballots and 437,427 votes cast at polling places as of 11:55 p.m. The results from Philadelphia are crucial as they could have a significant impact on the outcome of the election, particularly in Pennsylvania, where Kamala Harris is currently trailing Donald Trump.
City Commissioner Omar Sabir emphasized the commitment to providing continuous updates on the election results, stating that they will persist until the process is complete. Commissioner Seth Bluestein mentioned that in-person results are still being tallied, making it challenging to accurately predict the overall voter turnout at this stage.
Despite facing logistical challenges, the city has already posted around 165,000 mail-in ballot results on the election website. However, it was noted that some of the received mail-in ballots may not be counted due to missing signatures or dates, as highlighted by Commissioner Bluestein.
