The Philadelphia Phillies secured the NL East title for the first time since 2011 with a 6-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs. The win was highlighted by home runs from Kyle Schwarber and J.T. Realmuto, much to the delight of the Phillies fans in attendance.

With a record of 93-64, the Phillies now hold the No. 2 spot in the National League, trailing just behind the Los Angeles Dodgers. The team is eyeing the top seed in the NL playoffs and a first-round bye if they can maintain their position in the standings.

Manager Rob Thomson emphasized the importance of winning the division and securing the bye, while also acknowledging the significance of potentially earning home-field advantage throughout the postseason.

The Phillies have established themselves as a regular playoff contender, making postseason appearances in each of the past three seasons. Despite some empty seats at Citizens Bank Park during the clinching game, the team has enjoyed strong fan support throughout the season, surpassing 3.2 million in attendance.
