A 62-year-old man from Philadelphia is facing federal charges for allegedly making violent threats towards a state party representative involved in recruiting poll watchers. The indictment, unsealed on Monday, revealed that John Pollard sent multiple threatening text messages to the unnamed representative.
The incident, which occurred just over two weeks before the 2024 presidential election, is part of the Justice Department's efforts to address threats and violence against election workers.
According to court documents, Pollard's threats were in response to a social media post by the representative seeking volunteers to observe the polls on Election Day. In one message, Pollard expressed interest in being a poll watcher. When he did not receive an immediate response, he escalated the situation by threatening violence.
One of the messages read, 'I will KILL YOU IF YOU DON’T ANSWER ME!' followed by 'Your days are numbered, B**ch,' and 'GONNA F***ING FIND YOU AND SKIN YOU ALIVE AND USE YOUR SKIN FOR F***ING TOILET PAPER.'
John Pollard has been charged with transmitting interstate threats, a crime that carries a maximum prison sentence of five years. As of now, Pollard does not have legal representation listed in the court docket.
