Philadelphia Eagles trade for former Georgia RB D’Andre Swift

Per a report from Adam Schefter, the Detroit Lions are trading former Georgia running back D’Andre Swift to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Lions used their top pick on former Georgia Tech and Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs on Thursday night. Detroit quickly began fielding phone calls from around the league regarding a trade for Swift.

The former UGA ball carrier was the 35th pick in the 2020 NFL draft by the Lions, with whom he spent the first three years of his career. Swift hails from Philadelphia, so this is a homecoming for the St. Joseph’s High School graduate. He came to Georgia as a five-star recruit in the class of 2017 and left as the school’s seventh all-time leading rusher with 2,885 career yards.

The Eagles are adding yet another former Georgia Bulldog to their roster. At the time of the trade, the Eagles had spent three draft picks on former Georgia players this year: defensive tackle Jalen Carter (No. 9 overall), outside linebacker Nolan Smith (No. 30) and cornerback Kelee Ringo (No. 105).

Philadelphia used two draft picks last year on former Georgia nose tackle Jordan Davis (No. 13) and linebacker Nakobe Dean (No. 83).

Swift recorded 1,680 yards and 18 touchdowns on 364 carries during his years with Detroit. He also added 1,198 receiving yards and seven additional scores on 156 catches.
