Manchester City ace Phil Foden is backing reported transfer target Jude Bellingham to become the 'best midfielder in the world' after his outstanding display in England's 3-0 World Cup win over Senegal in Qatar on Sunday evening.
After cruising into the last-16 of the competition, England roared into the quarter-finals, setting up a glamour tie with France, with ease, brushing Senegal aside, inspired by Bellingham's brilliance. The 19-year-old, who is the subject of interest from a wealth of clubs, provided the assist for Jordan Henderson's opener, ahead of playing a key hand in the Three Lions' second goal of the game and Harry Kane's first of the tournament.
Bellingham's assist for Henderson's low finish meant he became the youngest ever player to have provided an assist in a World Cup knockout match since records began. He oozed class throughout the contest, leaving England supporters in awe of his performance.

But it was not just the fans who enjoyed Bellingham's outstanding display, as Foden, who grabbed two assists, setting up Kane and then Bukayo Saka after half-time for the Three Lions' third goal, waxed lyrical about his Three Lions teammate. The City star was so impressed that he has backed the former Birmingham City youngster to become one of football's elite-level players.
"I don't want to big him up too much because he's still young, but he's one of the most gifted players I've ever seen," Foden told ITV Sport. "I don't see a weakness in his game.
"I think he has everything and I'm sure he's going to be the best midfielder in the world, for sure."
On Bellingham's performance, England manager Gareth Southgate added: "I think the biggest thing is the mentality. Obviously we've done a lot of work over the years with young players and young player development.
"And the thing that makes the difference is the mindset, the drive, the desire to learn and improve. And he has all of that. I think with him, Phil and Bukayo tonight, it felt the right moment for them and they all stepped up."
