With Stetson Bennett gone, Kirby Smart has a decision to make at the quarterback position.
Will it be Carson Beck, Brock Vandagriff or Gunner Stockton lining up under Sedrick Van Pran, Georgia’s two-year starter at center, in 2023?
Whoever it is, that’s a solid group of quarterbacks in Athens. Pro Football Focus actually ranks it as America’s eighth best quarterback room for the upcoming 2023 season.
On Georgia’s quarterbacks, PFF said:
Georgia must replace Stetson Bennett, who became the first starting quarterback since A.J. McCarron to win two national championships. Luckily for the back-to-back champs, they have a few options to replace him. Carson Beck was the backup last season and earned an impressive 87.0 passing grade on 39 dropbacks. Brock Vandagriff is entering his third season with the Bulldogs and was a five-star recruit in the 2021 class. The Bulldogs also have redshirt freshman Gunner Stockton, who was a top-10 quarterback recruit in the 2022 cycle.
Right now, all signs are pointing toward Beck being the starter when Georgia opens the season against UT-Martin in September. He was the No. 2 all year behind Bennett and will be entering his fourth year in Athens.
Georgia is once again the favorite to win the national championship, with odds set at +220, per FanDuel. As for Beck, his Heisman odds are set at +1,800.
