While the prime-time Monday Night Football games will be shown as usual on ESPN this season (with the newly-acquired Joe Buck and Troy Aikman heading broadcasts), fans can also tune in to ESPN2 for an alternate broadcast featuring Peyton Manning and Eli Manning — former NFL quarterbacks and sons of legendary New Orleans Saints passer Archie Manning, plus an assortment of special guests.
Peyton Manning, who lost Super Bowl XLIV to the Saints, will lead these broadcasts with his younger brother Eli Manning, who threw six touchdown passes against New Orleans and still lost back in 2015. Their Omaha Productions company puts these widely-viewed shows together in partnership with ESPN. And the Saints will be featured twice on this big stage — first in their Week 9 home game with the Baltimore Ravens, and again in Week 13 for their road tilt with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Both kickoffs figure to feature an electric atmosphere.
So that should contrast nicely with the significantly more laid-back “ManningCast,” where both brothers typically take in the game from couches or reclining chairs while interviewing their famous teammates, rivals, and peers from around pro football’s orbit. It’s an entertaining, occasionally insightful, and very popular program, so it’s cool to see the Saints on their radar.
