Retailer Pets at Home is hosting free workshops in stores across the country throughout the school holidays with a range of interactive activities to help kids learn how to keep their animals cool in the sun. The 30-minute My Pet Pals workshops come as the country has been hit with a record-breaking heatwave, leaving pets in danger of heatstroke, and other life-threatening illnesses, if not kept cool.
As well as learning hints and tips on cooling, kids will also be able to meet small animals and learn how to care for them in a fun and engaging way, including making their own cooling fan. All children taking part will receive an activity sheet to take away and a special My Pet Pals certificate for completing the workshop.
Karen Heskin, head of pets at Pets at Home, said: “Ensuring every pet owner, including children, has free access all of the information and tools they need to be a responsible pet owner is so important to us. We’re excited to host these free workshops throughout the summer holidays.
"All activities have been carefully designed with our pet care advisors and vets to help educate and inspire children, while providing plenty of fun to keep them entertained.”
Hosted by Pets at Home’s friendly expert pet care advisors, the free workshops will be running every Saturday and Sunday, until September 4, at 1pm. Find nearest pet workshop and book a free space here.
