Petrol and diesel prices have been soaring so far this year and there is little sign of the heavy costs to motorists easing despite the chancellor's announcement fuel duty would be cut. Motorists have been complaining they are yet to see the 5p per litre reduction passed down to the forecourts.
The AA says since the start of the year motorists have been hit by a 20p-a-litre surge in fuel prices. This has "rocked the finances of families, and particularly young drivers, pensioners and lower-income workers who need to commute each day," the AA added.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak revealed recently a number of measures the Conservative government hoped would ease the costs of living. Many, however, have argued his plans are simply not enough amid rising energy bills, as well as fuel and food costs.
