Former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has confirmed his next venture - in the world of ice hockey.
The 40-year-old left his role as technical and performance advisor at Chelsea following the recent takeover by US businessman Todd Boehly, with many wondering what his next step would be. Having joined in 2019, Cech was filmed last year trying to reason with fans who had protested against the club's involvement in the European Super League.
Following his initial step into ice hockey, Cech has now linked up with NIHL South Division 1 side Chelmsford Chieftains for the 2022/23 season. The former Czech Republic international had previously played for Guildford Phoenix in 2019, whilst still working at Stamford Bridge.

Keen to keep up his fitness following his retirement from football, he will aid the side as a netminder, with the announcement being made at the weekend. The Chieftains currently play their home games in Essex.
Chieftains head coach Mark Saunders reflected on the signing, as he said: "Having a netminder of Petr’s quality and experience come into our squad is a huge boost for us right now. He brings a winning mentality, a desire to compete every single time he’s on the ice and we look forward to seeing him add to our group this campaign."
Cech was also keen for the upcoming test in the sport, following his success in the past with Pheonix. He said: "I’m excited for a new challenge with the Chieftains and I’m looking forward to helping the team reach their targets for the season."
