Petition challenges paying of income tax by Himachal Pradesh govt on behalf of ministers, MLAs

SHIMLA: The High Court of Himachal Pradesh on Monday issued notice to the state government in a matter related to payment of income tax on behalf of ministers and MLAs by the state government.

Petitioners have brought to the notice of the high court that in the year 2017-18, income tax to the tune of Rs 1,11,87,863 was paid by the state government on behalf of ministers and MLAs; in 2018-19 state government paid Rs 1,79,30,873 as income tax on behalf of ministers and MLAs; while in 2019-20, Rs 1,78,12,311 was paid as income tax by the state government on behalf of ministers and MLAs.
