Wright put up a string of impressive performances to win the European Tour tournament in Hildesheim – his ninth European Tour title - knocking out old foe Michael van Gerwen in a thrilling quarter-final and earning the top prize of £25,000.

The Scot has now moved up two places in the world rankings after dropping out of the top ten in July for the first time since 2014.

Fellow Scotsman Gary Anderson is ranked 23rd after Littler jumped up to world number 22, a career high for the teenager.
