Peter Kay touts are attempting to flog last minute tickets to his Manchester show tonight for eye-watering prices - with some hopeful ticket sellers hoping to nab up to £220 per ticket.
The comedian, 49, is back on stage tonight for the first time in years at Manchester's AO Arena, and after the tickets for his comeback tour sold out in minutes, touts are now flogging tickets for extortionate prices to fans who are desperate to see the funny-man back in action.
Peter's tour, namely, Better Late Than Never, sent his fans into meltdown when he made the welcome announcement last month.
What made it even more special though was the fact that Peter decided to keep the tickets at the lowest possible price, charging only £35 per ticket - the same fee he charged for his last tour back in 2010.
Despite Peter's kind gesture towards fans amid the ongoing cost of living crisis, ticket touts are clearly not as compassionate.
Taking to Twitter just hours before his opening gig in Manchester, dozens of greedy ticket-sellers are flogging the hard-to-get tickets with several selling for £155 per person.
Elsewhere, another tout is asking £252 for two tickets, while someone else is asking for an eye-watering £285 for two.
Last month, comedian Jason Manford called for eye-watering resale ticket prices to be made illegal as fans claim websites are trying to fleece them for £1,770 to see Peter.
Hundreds of fans of Peter have been left furious and disappointed after seeing the huge prices appear online as they struggle to get tickets to see the much-loved star.
Following the controversy, Jason, 41, insisted that it's time that legalised touting becomes illegal.
"Reselling tickets at a profit should be illegal. Until they do something in parliament then I imagine a lot of ticket sellers hands are tied. But we live in a capitalist society with a Tory government so chances are about the same as you getting Peter Kay tickets," he said on Twitter.
Peter's 22-date tour is scheduled to take place between December 2022 and August 2023, although some months have just one or two dates. All of them are scheduled on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and at first, it appeared that there were no venues in the south of England that have been picked to host his performances.
However, following his shock tour announcement, the comedian announced a London residency at the O2 Arena.
Peter's last live stand-up tour in 2010 holds the Guinness World Record for the biggest-selling comedy tour of all time, in which 1.2 million people came to watch him perform.
As part of the announcement of his tour, the comedian also gave fans some welcome news: he was slashing the price of his tickets.
"It's good to get back to what I love doing best, stand-up comedy and if there’s ever a time people need a laugh it’s now," he said.
"And with the cost of living at an all-time high, ticket prices are starting from £35. The same price they were on my previous tour in 2010."
