Peter Gulacsi accuses Rangers of parking the bus as RB Leipzig react to Europa League win

RB Leipzig captain Peter Gulacsi accused 'defensive' Rangers of parking the bus and reckons the Ibrox side could play into their hands next week because they have to go for it.

Rangers must overturn a 1-0 deficit on Thursday against the German side in the Europa League semi-final.

Leipzig have only lost once in their previous 11 away games and that was at Bayern Munich. They've also won at Atalanta and Real Sociedad this year.

It took Leipzig until five minutes from time to finally break down Rangers, who looked certain to return to Glasgow with a hugely creditable goalless draw.

And former Liverpool keeper and Hungarian international Gulacsi clearly wasn't impressed with Giovanni van Bronckhorst's tactics.

He said: "Rangers played very defensively and it wasn't easy. It felt like they had two blocks of five and we had to play patiently.

"But to get the win was good. Now we have to face a difficult game in Glasgow, but we've already shown how well we can perform away from home in Bergamo and San Sebastian in this competition.

"And Rangers will have to come out more and that will give us more space to attack."

But other Leipzig stars showed plenty of respect for the Ibrox side and have acknowledged how difficult the second leg in Glasgow will be.

Goalscorer Angelino said: "We worked very hard for this win and we deserved it because we dominated the game most of the time. We didn't allow Rangers many chances.

"That was a team result and we have to repeat that in Glasgow."

German international defender Benjamin Henrichs admitted: "Rangers demanded a lot from us, especially in the first half. We did better after the break and created a few chances.

"We can thank Angelino for that shot because that's put us in a good position for the second leg."

And club and country colleague Lukas Klostermann added: "We were up against a very physical team and it was difficult to find gaps against such a compact side.

"We didn't want to take risks so we wouldn't get counter-attacked. We played patiently and attacked at the right moments, but we didn't manage to play with enough pace and create as many chances as we would have wanted."
