Peter Cullen, the Emmy-winning voice behind heroic Autobot leader Optimus Prime in 'Transformers' and the melancholy Eeyore in 'Winnie the Pooh', has died at the age of 85. Over more than six decades in entertainment, he became one of the most recognisable performers in voice acting, creating distinctive characters using little more than his voice.
Born in Montreal on 28 July 1941, Cullen graduated from the National Theatre School of Canada in 1963. He initially worked as a radio announcer and later appeared on television, including as a regular on 'The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour', before establishing himself as one of the entertainment industry's most recognisable voice performers.
