Peter Crouch and Rio Ferdinand discuss what Roberto Firmino did after Darwin Nunez miss

Roberto Firmino could be seen in despair following Darwin Nunez's miss during Liverpool's clash with Ajax in the UEFA Champions League.

Leading 1-0 at the time, Firmino wonderfully squared the ball across the six-yard box for team-mate Nunez to surely double the Reds' advantage, only for the Uruguayan to see his effort cannon back off the woodwork and back into play. Having been under the cosh for most of the first half, Mohamed Salah's effort ensure Jurgen Klopp's side entered a goal to the good at the interval.

Andy Robertson was another who couldn't believe Nunez had missed from only a few yards out, given Liverpool's strong end to a slightly worrying first 45 minutes. Making up for his minor mistake in the second half, the 23-year-old delightfully powered home a header to double his side's advantage at the Johan Cryuff Arena.

Speaking following the miss on BT Sport, both Rio Ferdinand and Peter Crouch both saw the funny side, as Crouch began: ''I don’t think Firmino can understand how Liverpool aren’t 2-0 up. It’s a great move and Firmino’s pass is perfect, how Nunez misses that I don’t know.

With Ferdinand also praising Liverpool's slick movement in the build-up, the former Manchester United defender added: ''Firmino man, his reaction is brilliant. Even Robertson’s reaction says it all, it was a beautiful team move.''

The Reds could have afforded to have been beaten by the Dutch champions in Amsterdam this evening and still stood a chance of qualifying against Napoli on Matchday 6, although next week's showdown with the Serie A side will seemingly decide who tops the group with Klopp's men looking to avenge their defeat back in September.
