Peter Andre shares devastation for TV presenter Jonnie Irwin's cancer heartbreak

Peter Andre has told how he's 'devastated' for A Place In The Sun presenter Jonnie Irwin, who is bravely living with 'terminal' cancer.

The 90s music star reflected on the 49-year-old's heartbreaking health blow after the presenter went public with his diagnosis of lung cancer, which has spread to his brain.

Jonnie first noticed something was wrong when he was filming on location in Italy for the Channel 4 program A Place In The Sun and he suffered blurred vision.

Doctors' tests revealed lung cancer and the symptoms he had experienced were as a result of the cancer spreading to her brain leaving a terminal diagnosis and months to live.

Pete praised the father-of-three for his positive outlook in his OK! column as he wrote: "It is terribly sad news. It’s heartbreaking when you hear it happening to anyone, let alone someone so young. It absolutely breaks your heart."

Doctors diagnosed Jonnie with lung cancer in August 2020 and tests later showed it had spread to his brain, which accounted for the eye sight symptoms.

Jonnie is married to wife Jessica, 40, and the couple share three children Rex, three, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac.

Father-of-four Pete described the cruel blow for Irwin's wife and young children as 'devastating'.

And the former I'm a Celeb star admitted Irwin's co-star Scarlette Douglas, who is in the jungle on the show, may not be aware of his diagnosis.

He added: ''I’m sure it will absolutely break her heart – it’s devastating."

But he understood the producers' decision to not tell her as the jungle is a heightened emotional environment in any event, before being informed of her co-star's prognosis.

Speaking to Hello Magazine, Jonnie said: "I had to go home and tell my wife, who was looking after our babies, that she was on her own, pretty much."

And although their are understandably tough times he says he's "living with cancer, not dying from it".

He later acknowledged the cancer is "going to catch up with him", but said he was "doing everything [he] can to hold that day off for as long as possible."

Irwin said he went public with his diagnosis to 'get the monkey of his back' and has since used his platform to urge parents to get life insurance to ensure loved ones are financially secure in the face of tragedy.
